Hello world! I'm a social media evangelist, geek to English translator, writer, belly dancer, and transplant New Yorker.

Youth Advocate and Capacity Builder

I have been heavily involved in the international youth nonprofit sector since high school, attending and staffing over a dozen international youth capacity-building conferences in Europe, Africa, the US, and Asia. I have also managed media and press teams at UN-affiliated conferences in Kuala Lumpur, Barcelona, Chicago, New York, and The Hague.

Writing-Related

I founded Absynthe Muse, now defunct, a young writers' community online in 2005, which gained 3,000 members worldwide. It also garnered second place for "e-creativity and culture" at the World Summit Youth Award.

Absynthe Muse boasted a mentoring program that connected over 300 young writers with adult writers worldwide, earning several awards from Writers' Digest and Editors & Preditors and other online writers' groups. The mentoring program also worked with an incarcerated youth population outside of Los Angeles.

United Nations-Related

In 2006, I co-coordinated the Violence Against Women committee at the THIMUN Youth Assembly and shortly afterwards, began working as a Model UN Trainer with the United Nations Association USA, teaching New York City public middle and high school students from 35 schools international relations concepts, parliamentary debate skills, the history of the United Nations, and preparing them for conferences at the UN and beyond.

Work Experience

I've also completed internships with Girl Scouts of America, Vibewire, UNWorks Programme, and most recently, for Young People For. Currently, I advise several UN-affiliated youth bodies on web and technology issues.
